CNN Youtube debate - I should've asked this instead

The camera I was using to tape my CNN Youtube question was borrowed and I can't get it back in time to tape another before the deadline for submissions. And since I'm saving up for the twins, I'm not about to run out and buy one. But I'm hoping that maybe one of you can record yourself asking the following question:

In 2004 the media learned that both George W Bush and John Kerry were members of the Yale secret society "Skull and Bones". But since this was not reported until after Kerry had secured the Democratic party nomination, it never became an election issue. Rather than risk finding out after the nominations (if ever) that we once again have both major party candidates representing the same secret society, would all of you please tell us now, to which secret societies you belong?

Honestly, isn't that the sort of question that a debate like this is supposed to bring out?

If anyone will actually do this, please post a link to the video in your comments so I can embed it here. The link to submit your video can be found at http://youtube.com/contest/RepublicanDebate. Just click the "Submit a Video" button. Deadline is tomorrow, November 25.

UPDATE - I used a webcam and a free download of Camtasia 3 so I could put this together. The video and sound are out of sync, and the picture quality isn't as good as I'd like, but it's up. And hey, it's the message and not the medium that matters, right?

Good question. I just googled 'youtube secret society' and this is the 1st link that popped up. I would hope somebody would ask this question & also add Bilderberger meetings as another specific secretive group. I'd also like to see this asked of the Democratic candidates.

If somebody does do this, just ask in a respectful curious way so it doesn't get laughed off as UFO conspiracy stuff.

I'm Canadian and doubt my question will get used.

Digg this...

Yes, it just has to be general in relation to secret societies and should be asked and done in a professional serious way. If you are going to ask about specific groups, ask about groups which are truly secretive. S&B, Bilderberger, Bohemian Grove & also opinions on NAU and PNAC. It will get these questions out of the way before conspiracy theories start. We don't need another S&B election.

Funny, the Digg link is getting rather juvenile comments... like being a part of an organization which makes policy (unofficially), has members who are the world's power elite, meet in private and are will not answer to the people who elect them or prop them up, is no big deal? Geez these intellectual midgets live in an on world odd denial.

The fact is, just knowing some names of secret societies is a far cry from knowing exactly what those societies stand for and if an elected person refuses to say what the SS they are a part of stand for and believe, then they should not be trusted with high office... i.e. Bush & Kerry

Wonder how many secret societies exist in US politics...

To those on Digg who think this a silly question:

*Yes, this should have been done to the Dems too. It would be nice if a person could try this at a town hall meeting without getting tazed*

The point won't be so much in having them spill the beans on the behind the scenes shenanigans of the SS they belong to. The point is to get them to either lie or refuse to answer. Then when we find out who belongs to what group (i.e. PNAC *not so much a SS as an ideology), people will be able to pull out the video showing them in said lie. Worst still, would be catching them in an organization which is/or gets discovered to be diametrically opposed to the politics a particular person claims to represent.

Not exactly a "secret" if they tell you is it?

Posted by: slyn at November 25, 2007 04:13 PM

Someone asked Hillary about her meeting with the Bilderberger group on one of her campaign stops and she denied knowing anything about it. You can find it on Youtube if you look for it.

Slyn, did you read the post before the stupid one you posted.

See, here's what happened when Bush & Kerry were asked:

Geez, are any of the people posting on Digg even bothering to click the link and read the page in question? Too lazy I suppose.

I guess they want important questions like this to be asked, instead of questions of Bilderberger meetings which lead to $100/barrel oil.

So, no one has done a video yet? Pity. Not much time left for the submission. To everyone who dugg, thanks. I do hope someone comes in at last minute and puts up a video though.

just buy a camera at Walmart and return it after your done using it . . .

C'mon people... I'd do it but I'm Canadian & it won't get used.

Digg is not allowing my posts to go up (guess Digg doesn't like Canadians either), so I'll post this to the guy who wondered "what about the Dems?" & the people who didn't like the term "secret society":

The Dem Youtube CNN "debate" already took place. And it's up to the American people to do videos asking questions about the various groups these people belong to. If the this issue is hard enough then CNN will have to use one of the videos & the Dems will be asked to answer the same questions too... during interviews. The question as presented by the origional article doesn't have to be asked... ask it in whatever way you like. Ask about whatever society, organization or belief one likes. But let's get the basic point in there... "What secretive groups do you belong to and will you be more loyal to that or the office you seek?" or something like that... and then name a few.

So, I put one up and entered it into the contest. It's not pretty, but what do you guys think?

Posted by: mason at November 25, 2007 07:14 PM

As long as you get the point across that is all that matters. You did this, great job! I have tried searching for this on www.10questions.com and did not see it. Did you upload it to this site or just Youtube? Make sure it's posted before midnight.

Posted by: Brian at November 25, 2007 07:26 PM

Good stuff, Mason. It won't please everyone but that doesn't matter. It may get the ball rolling.

So to all those on Digg who didn't like the wording, get your cameras out and put up something.

A lot of people seem to be neglecting the fact that most college fraternities are esoteric with their secret rituals, initiation rites, symbols, and oaths. Are we to believe that all of these organizations with secrets that their members are sworn to protect for life are part of a worldwide conspiracy?

Posted by: Jamie at November 25, 2007 07:56 PM

Jamie, Skull and Bones is more than a frat house. Please research it's history.

Also... it's societies (plural). Many of us want to know who's a Boho Grove, Bilderberger and/or PNAC member. Amongst other organizations with no public accountability.

Mason this is awesome. More ma$etube!

You should do a dramatic reading of all the columns you did for The Bagpipe via YouTube.
